Oberwang bei Mondsee
The Fidele Bauer (The Loyal Farmer) Has His Origins Here
Oberwang is the coldest and snowiest region of MondSeeLand. 30 km of cross-country ski routes connect it with the Attersee and provide a unique view of the mountains of the Salzkammergut such as the Schafberg, Höllengebirge and so on. The parish church in the village centre houses a lovely baroque altar by Guggenbichl. The Konrad church is a historical point and spiritual place consecrated to the blessed abbott Konrad.

Many traditional inns serving regional delights and specialties are waiting for you. In summer you should not miss our entertaining town fairs, festivals, folklore evenings and brass band concerts. And in winter the Hochplett ski lifts and more than 30 km of laid cross country skiing tracks ("Oberwang-Nußdorf") offer everything a winter lover´s heart could possibly desire.
Choose from a whole range of walking paths and hiking trails leading to the scenic Kulm area, the Kramer memorial statue or the Hochplettspitze peak. The town´s parish church, featuring the renowned Guggenbichler altar, and the Konradkirche church, founded by Prof. Lydia Roppolt, are always worth a visit!
